FTC Buyer's Guide

This book will provide a detailed explanation of the contents of the "FTC Buyer's Guide" and will provide you with instructions on how you can use it in your used car purchase.  Here are a few of the requirements the Buyers Guide must tell you:

• Whether the vehicle is being sold "AS IS" or with a warranty
• What percentage of the repair costs the selling dealer will pay under the warranty
• The major mechanical and electrical systems on the vehicle, including some of the major problems you should look out for
  
• To ask to have the vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic before you buy

Fortunately, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires dealers to post a Buyers Guide in every used vehicle they offer for sale, but it is up to you to ensure that you utilize this important tool to its full potential.
